MACP - Modern Army Combatives Program

Basic Combatives is a Warrior Core Tasks; one of the forty tasks of the Warrior Ethos initiative. The U.S. Army Combatives course is designed to develop Leaders and Soldiers; to learn close quarters combat techniques and battle procedures - specifically to prepare Soldiers to close with and crush the the enemy in hand to hand combat.

The 2nd Ranger Battalion started the Modern Army Combatives Program (MACP) in 1995. The MACP program has spread around the Army. It has been incorporated into the new TC 3-25.150. The Army Combatives Program improves unit combat readiness by building Soldiers’ personal courage, confidence, and resiliency as well as their situational responsiveness to close quarters dangers in the operational environment.
